Bennett High School 50th reunion at the mill

Bennett High School Class of 1959



Bennett School members of the Class of 1959 celebrated their 50th reunion at the “Old Bennett Feed Mill” on Saturday, May 2, 2009 with all but three members of the graduating class present.

Pictured in back row from left to right are Edison Powers, teacher, James (Jimmie) Caviness, Jr., Roby G. Kidd, Jr., Grady Garner and Richard Brown.

In middle row are Billy Joe Brady, Peggy McDaniel Allen, Gevena Shields Hicks, Snyder Mooneyhan, Shirley Brady Caviness, Harold Caviness, and Irene Cheek Davis.

Seated front row are Betty Caviness, teacher, Lola Hussey Kidd, Peggy Andrews Weaver, Nellie Moran Routh, and Jennie Harris Hunt.

History of the Mill

2005 - Gullions purchase the mill. It is across the road from the house where Heidi's Grandma and Grandpa Andrews lived (Glenn Andrews lives there now).

1990's - Michael Priest bought the last bag of feed in the 90's (information from Michael Priest)

1924 - Bud Routh drove the wagon down in 1924 when his dad Oscar moved to Bennett from Randolph County (information from Pearl Willett)

1915 - Balfour Routh built the feed mill around 1915 and sold it to Oscar Routh around 1924 (information from Lucy Pugh)
